This is my personal website. Everyone should have a personal website. Over the years I have created a number (small number) of websites using Dreamweaver, Atom (direct HTML/CSS), Google Sites, and WordPress. I also taught basic web site creation as part of my computer science classes.
I think web sites have serve two purposes. The more obvious of the two is to present yourself – whoever or whatever “you” may be – to the world; a public presentation if you will. The second, perhaps less obvious, is – as I used to call them in my classes – a portal and portfolio. This is a private place to organize and store your stuff. I have used Google Sites based websites for this purpose for many years.
This is the former. This is a place to present myself, and my stuff to the world – or some sub-segment thereof. I am a former “techie”, software developer, and recently a Texas public school teacher of science and computer science. I’m retired now, and living on a farm in Mississippi.
I’m trying to figure out how to grow stuff, how to raise chickens (and maybe pheasants and quail), how to build stuff – like chicken coops, how to fix stuff – like broken equipment, and how to avoid poison ivy – that **** grows differently here than it did in Texas; lesson learned! All that while I contemplate my mortality, often with a glass of decent bourbon in my hand. I don’t buy “rotgut” but I have neither the purse nor palette to justify the expensive stuff; maybe for my birthday.
I don’t have a singular focus – yet. Mostly, as the title would imply, at least initially, these are just random thoughts and ideas. Maybe I will gain more focus as I proceed.
